The participant will be provided with an in-depth exploration of Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Emphasis will be placed on the educational implications of research of information, techniques, and strategies to help students with this disorder increase their academic success in meeting the Pennsylvania Academic Standards and perform well on state and local assessments.

American Government: An Educator's Guide This on-line graduate level course is designed to provide educators with an in-depth exploration of American Government and how they can use this knowledge not only when teaching social studies, but to implement cross-curricular lessons in all subject areas consistent with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards to increase students' scores on state and local assessments, mainly the PSSAs.

An Educator's Guide to Managing and Solving Discipline Problems This three credit graduate level course is designed for teachers from grades K-12. The participant will be introduced to fourteen different types of behaviors commonly exhibited by difficult to manage students. Descriptions, underlying causes, common traps, and strategies will be presented and discussed in detail for each type of behavior.

An Introduction to Special Education and Exceptional Learners This three credit graduate course is designed for teachers from grades K-12. This is an online Moodle class, and each session contains a series of lessons, video, written response, and other activities. This course will provide educators with an in-depth exploration of the special education system and challenges that students with special needs will face when included in the regular education classroom and strategies that will maximize student performance.

This is an online Moodle class, and each session contains a series of lessons, video, written responses, and other activities. This course is a presentation of elementary Spanish language and grammar, in order to achieve a better understanding of the dynamics involved in the educational setting.

Managing the Difficult Student with Functional Behavioral Assessment and Positive Behavior Support This graduate level course is designed to provide educators with an in-depth exploration of strategies and interventions they can use to mange challenging behaviors in the classroom. Emphasis will be placed upon creating a structured environment, preventing or minimizing behaviors, and implementing positive behavior supports to increase their students academic success in meeting the Pennsylvania Academic Standards. This course has no prerequisites or prior requirements.

Multiple Intelligences in the Classroom: An Educator's Guide This course is designed for teachers from grades K-12. The participant will be introduced to Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences and how they can make the nine intelligences a regular part of their classroom teaching in accordance with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards in order to meet the individual needs of all students. Concrete examples will be provided.

Preventing Bullying and Cyberbullying: What Every Educator Needs to Know This three credit graduate level course is designed to provide educators with an in-depth exploration of strategies and techniques for developing more positive and productive relationships with students_ peers along with dealing with bullying, and in doing so, raising students_ self-esteem and increasing their academic success in meeting the Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as performing well on state and local assessments.

Promoting Self-Determination in Students with Disabilities The participant will be introduced to a wide array of instructional materials and methods that can be used to promote self-determination in students with disabilities. The instructor will present the material through lectures, role-playing, dramatizations, and group discussions. Teaching Students to Choose Responsible Behavior This three credit graduate level course is designed to provide educators with an in-depth exploration of the Assertive Discipline strategies and techniques put forth by Lee Canter and other educational researchers aimed at teaching students to choose responsible behavior, and in doing so, raising their self-esteem and increasing their academic success in meeting the Pennsylvania Academic Standards and perform well on state and local assessments.

The American Revolution for Educators This three credit graduate level course is designed to provide educators with an in-depth exploration of the American Revolutionary period up until the Bill of Rights was ratified (1763-1791), and how they can use this knowledge not only when teaching social studies, but to implement cross-curricular lessons in all subject areas consistent with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards. The Birth of a Nation This three credit graduate course is designed to provide educators with an in depth exploration of American history from the time of European exploration in the 1400s and 1500s through the creation of a federal union and the ratification of the United States Constitution in 1787. This is an online Moodle class, and each session contains a series of lessons, videos, written responses, and other activities. This course is designed for teachers from grades K-12. The course has no prerequisites.

The Civil War and Reconstruction for Educators This graduate level course is designed to provide educators with an in-depth exploration of American history from the Civil War through Reconstruction up to and including the settling of the last frontier (1861-1900), and how they can use this knowledge not only when teaching social studies, but to implement cross-curricular lessons in all subject areas consistent with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards. The History of Law in Public Education This course is designed for educators from grades K-12. The participant will be provided with a basic working knowledge of the legal structure of public education. Where possible, particular emphasis will be given to school systems within Pennsylvania. Topics to be covered include church-state-education relationships, race-state-education relationships, school boards, financing education, curriculum, and graduation requirements.
