Special Programs & Services

The Special Programs & Services Department serves families from 14 school districts, 8 charter schools, and 21 non-member districts.

The Special Programs & Services Department provides support and services to students and educators in Carbon and Lehigh counties.

In compliance with federal and state requirements, the CLIU #21 offers a wide variety of special education programs and services to our member districts and charter schools. When a student requires a special education program or service because of a disability, the Local Education Agency (LEA) is required to provide a free, appropriate public education to meet the student’s needs. If, for some reason, the LEA cannot provide this service, the CLIU #21 may provide the programming for such students. By joining together as a consortium through the support of the CLIU #21, school districts have access to shared resources and quality services for their students.
