The Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 Speech and Language Impairment Certification Program is founded on the commitment of continual and ongoing quality improvement and professional growth opportunities for aspiring educators. The goal of the program is to prepare speech and language educators with the necessary skills and capacity to improve student learning based upon the research, assessment and implementation of best practice in speech and language instruction.  

 

This is a high quality speech and language educator training program by which all components are aligned to the standards delineated in the PA School Code.  Candidates must have a completed Bachelor’s Degree.  Candidates are recommended to have previous coursework in Speech Pathology, Communication Disorders, or previous coursework that may include:

This post-baccalaureate program provides required coursework for participants complete the required Praxis exam and to be eligible to receive PA Department of Education certification in the Instructional field of Special Education: Speech and Language Impairment PK-12.  Please note that this program is specifically designed for Speech and Language Impairment PK-12 Instructional Certification and is not a graduate Speech-Language Pathology program.

• Be delivered utilizing a hybrid (combined live & asynchronous) online learning model. 
• Deliver each course in a 7-week accelerated term with participants completing 5-6 courses per school year.
• Integrate field experience in every course
• Provide ongoing integrated support
