    Leadership for the PA Core

    April 1, 2020 - May 15, 2020. Designed for school leaders who are committed to optimizing an effective teaching-learning environment, this course presents an overview of PA Core Standards in Mathematics and English Language Arts. The focus will be on the shifts in instruction and assessment needed for implementation of the PA Core Standards and the Danielson Framework will be the lens through which the school leaders will view the shifts. The course modules will provide participants with the knowledge and resources to and support this change, culminating with an action plan for implementation.

    Transforming Education Through Connections

    February 1, 2020 - March 15, 2020. Focusing on the utilization of social networking and learning communities, this program will empower participants to increase student achievement through the transformational power of these tools. The power of social networking and media gives educators the ability to make digital integration a holistic component of their instructional and personal learning methods. This program will provide the resources, connections and the learning needed to increase digital literacy in our schools, empower educators to comfortably connect with technology within their current positions and build curriculum that inherently supports differentiated instruction, process and product.

    Engaging the Community for Student Achievement

    February 1, 2020 - March 15, 2020. Communities should motivate students to take school seriously and strive to achieve, and should celebrate them when they do. This culture of achievement augments the efforts of engaged parents and helps fill the void created by parents who are not involved. Understanding that community engagement with local schools is an essential element to a well-rounded and successful educational system. School leadership must work to engage and empower stakeholders within and outside the educational organization to promote student success. This course aims to empower school leaders through evaluation of best practices based on a variety of case studies and successful programs to prepare an action plan that will enhance community engagement within their own school systems.

    Educational Leadership in the 21st Century

    November 1, 2019 - December 15, 2019. Educational Leadership in the 21st Century provides an interactive e-learning experience to support exploration and discussion of school leadership in our students’ technological 21st century world. School leaders review best practices, examine leadership behaviors, and develop strategies to better support teachers and improve student achievement. Participants discuss ideas and strategies with other leaders in the course and apply them to their own practice. Extension activities provide opportunities to explore more in depth topics of interest.

    Mastery Options to Enhance Student Learning

    September 1, 2019 - October 15, 2019. The shift to an education system based on student mastery will require collaboration and support from a broad array of stakeholders. The key here is to focus on identifying student competencies that must be mastered to earn credit and provide professional development for educators. This course will provide educational leaders with resources to enact systemic changes to build flexibility to allow students to earn credit based on demonstrating mastery in the classroom and expanded learning opportunities.
