Student Driver Education Program
The Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 contracts with Allentown School District, Northern Lehigh School District, Northwestern Lehigh School District, Palmerton Area School District, Salisbury Township School District, and Whitehall-Coplay School District to provide Driver Education to school students for the 2007/2008 school year.
30 Hour Classroom Training
Below are the dates/times for the 30 hour classroom training for the Fall, Winter and Spring to be held at various locations. The student DOES NOT need to be 16 years of age to participate in this program. Cost is $220.00.

NOTE: CLIU reserves the right to cancel classroom training due to low enrollment. A minimum of 10 students is needed for the class to be conducted.

Behind-the Wheel Training
On-the-Road Skills Training consists of 6 hours of individual behind-the-wheel training. All students must be 16 years of age and have secured either a learner's permit or driver's license. During the 6th hour of training, qualifying students will be tested for a driver's license. Cost is $265.00. Students may be eligible for a 10-20 percent reduction in insurance premium costs upon completion of an approved Driver Education program. Please check with your individual insurance company. A senior license is obtainable at age 17 ½ after the student has completed both the classroom and the behind-the-wheel instruction and student has a Junior License at least 1 year.
