CLIU 21 has partnered with CIU 20 and WLVT to make the full streaming video library available to area educators and students available at their desktop, on-demand. The full collection consists of more than 2000 streaming video titles broken down into more than 20,000 key concept clips. Titles are available in both Quicktime and Windows Media Player formats.
Core-curricular, standards-based content in science, social studies, language arts, math, and health are available from over 100 producers representing renowned publishers United Learning, Discover Channel School, Standard Deviants, Sunburst, Environmental Media, Weston Woods, Rainbow Learning, CalTech, and TVOntario. Teacher guides, student activities, and lesson plans are also available online.
Several new features have recently been implemented, including a professional-quality still image and a calendar that correlates videos to historical events. Original LVPBS programming in digital format will be added to the collection, including Bethlehem Steel: The People that Built America; Hollywood on Hamilton; and Live from IU 21.
Teachers can access the collection by going to http://wlvt.unitedstreaming.com. Each school building within CLIU 21 has been given a United Streaming passcode for teacher access. If you are not sure of your passcode, please email newberrya@cliu.org.
Annenberg Series Online
Annenberg/CPB, a partnership between The Annenberg Foundation and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), uses media and telecommunications to advance excellent teaching in American schools. This mandate is carried out chiefly by the funding and distribution of educational video programs with coordinated Web and print materials for the professional development of K-12 teachers. Annenberg/CPB videos help teachers increase their expertise in their fields and assist them in improving their teaching methods. The programs are also intended for viewers at home and students in the classroom. All Annenberg/CPB videos, however they are used, exemplify excellent teaching.
The videos are now available online through a broadband channel in streaming format. High-speed Internet access is required. To learn more about the Annenberg Series, check the schedule, or stream video content, go to http://www.learner.org.
