Following the tragedies of 9/11 and Columbine, schools and communities have been faced with unprecedented challenges. Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21 is committed to ongoing and proactive emergency preparedness in supporting its member districts, which serve over 55,000 students and staff. In conjunction with Carbon and Lehigh County Emergency Management Agencies and local health organizations, CLIU#21 has formed an active council dedicated to emergency preparedness and pandemic planning to better organize and maximize the efficiency of response to emergencies across Carbon and Lehigh Counties. The council is working to increase the networking and resource sharing among the counties and to improve local emergency plans to support our students and community.
