No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
The Elementary and Secondary Education Act was reauthorized on January 8, 2002. The Act was authorized as the "No Child Left Behind Act of 2001," P.L. 107-110. The purpose of No Child Left Behind is "to ensure that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments."
